Transitioning from RIM to IG – The Role of the Records Manager
The Information Governance Initiative defines Information Governance as "the activities and technologies that organizations employ to maximize the value of their information while minimizing associated risks and costs." Information Governance is broader than records management as it is a coordinating function that brings all elements of the organization together to holistically govern information. There is a role that records managers can play in the evolution of their company programs from traditional records management to Information Governance. Learn how information governance is defined, how organizations transition from RIM to IG, how to assess your organization’s state of readiness and what you as a record manager can do to facilitate the transition process.
Our Speaker:

practice and leads the Records and Information Governance service line. Based in Morristown NJ, Ronké focuses primarily on executing and implementing information governance and records management solutions for clients.

President’s Corner:
Dear Chapter Members and Friends,
Following a long winter, the chapter is springing back to action. We are committed to finishing our 2014 -2015 year strong with educational meetings in May and June to lay the ground work for a new year that begins in July. In order to bring this about and be responsive to our members while bringing in new members - - we value and need your input! It would be great to have programs focusing on topics that you are especially interested in learning more about because perhaps you read an article or heard someone mention during a meeting or at a seminar.
It is easy to find ourselves going down the same roads, but in order to grow personally and professionally we must step out of our comfort areas and look in some new directions. This is in line with our May speaker’s topic – Transitioning from RIM to IG – the Role of the Records Manager. Have you taken steps to promote Information Governance in your company or are you considering obtaining an IG certification through ARMA International or maybe just learning more about where do we fit as Records Managers?
I am looking forward to seeing you on the 28th at the Princeton Holiday Inn for breakfast, networking and a great speaker – all before you walk through your office doors!
Laura Thomforde, CRM
