About the Presentation

Mark Patrick, CIP, AIIM Immediate Past ChairmanMark Patrick, CIP, Immediate Past Chairman of AIIM

Digital Transformation is driving collaboration across many disciplines which have developed separately in recent years. Records Management has been around a long time.  As business processes have become digital however, records officers haven’t necessarily evolved quickly enough.  Due to this, new disciplines have arisen to fill the gaps with new vocabularies and vernacular that have created artificial barriers among us -- the humans. Knowledge Management, Data Management/Science, Enterprise Content Management (ECM), Information Management/Governance, IT, Information Security, Privacy...these somewhat artificial distinctions can be confusing to new entrants (regardless of industry) as well as senior executives.  Mix well with robotic process automation (RPA), artificial intelligence (AI), “Big Data,” cloud/mobile, and machine learning (not all of these new) and you have the recipe for information chaos and resulting business inefficiency – a Tower of Babel for the working world.  Meanwhile, the growing requirements for compliance (security, privacy, access, etc.) have made a holistic approach even more essential.  Who is using a holistic approach and what does that mean?

Mark Patrick’s presentation will explore this evolution and challenge attendees to expand their perspectives to drive for better business outcomes and customer experiences. He will draw upon his broad public sector information background in military and civil service, as well as his nearly nine years as an AIIM board member at the chapter and national levels.
