Who We Are

ARMA New Jersey (ARMA NJ) is a chapter of ARMA International a not-for-profit professional association and the authority on governing information as a strategic asset.  The ARMA NJ Chapter supports the "Vision and Mission" of ARMA International while ensuring its local members are provided with training and education that meets current day industry requirements.

ARMA International was established in 1955 and the New Jersey Chapter followed shortly thereafter.  From its inception, ARMA NJ has established broad goals that enable the chapter to remain firmly rooted in its values while adapting to the future outlook of information and technology. 

ARMA NJ has a rich history that continues to shape its future.  In 2010, we celebrated our 50th anniversary and the ARMA New Jersey Chapter continues to facilitate dynamic training, education and support of its members and their careers.

Our Mission

To provide a collaborative forum for New Jersey Records & Information (RIM) professionals to share timely and valuable industry information, network with peers, and successfully meet the challenges of the increasingly complex records and information management field. 

Our Goals

  • Provide increased value to members
  • Further deploy technology to improve Chapter administration, communications and services to membership
  • Develop and implement strategies for increased membership and membership participation.
  • Position the Chapter Newsletter as an educational tool, in addition to continuing its primary communication and revenue generation functions
  • Improve integration of Northern NJ and Central NJ Chapter activities and develop co-projects

ARMA International

ARMA International is a not-for-profit professional association and the authority on governing information as a strategic asset.

The association was established in 1955. Its approximately 27,000+ members include records and information managers, information governance professionals, archivists, corporate librarians, imaging specialists, legal professionals, IT managers, consultants, and educators, all of whom work in a wide variety of industries, including government, legal, healthcare, financial services, and petroleum in the United States, Canada, and more than 30 other countries around the globe.

ARMA North East Region

The Northeast Region of ARMA International is comprised of six (6) local ARMA Chapters with over 1,000 members representative of  Records & Information Management, Information Governance, Compliance and Privacy/Security practitioners, professionals, and business partners.


Chapters included within the ARMA Northeast Region are: Boston, Central New York (includes Syracuse and Albany), Connecticut, Long Island, Metropolitan New York City, and New Jersey. Each of these ARMA Chapters has a unique membership composition and conduct educational and networking events that meet the goals and needs of their team. Each summer, the Northeast Region collaborates with the chapter leadership of the neighboring Mid-Atlantic Region to conduct a combined Annual ARMA Regional Leadership Conference at a location within the Northeast/Mid Atlantic area.

About RIM and Information Governance

Records Information Management is The "field of management responsible for the efficient and systematic control of the creation, receipt, maintenance, use and disposition of records, including processes for capturing and maintaining evidence of and information about business activities and transactions in the form of records."

Information governance is concerned with defining the accountability for your organization’s information assets – its content and records.

Records and Information is at the center of everything an organization does: strategy management, research, and development, compliance. How an organization manages that information and its corporate records can directly affect its ability to compete, comply with regulations, and recover from disaster - in other word, to operate efficiently.
